DISAPPOINTED

 

I don't even know where to start,

Day in day out there's a new victim of sexual abuse and most if not all the time it is a woman.

Quite recently, there was an incident in Nairobi involving a lady driving an Xtrail along forest road and "boda-boda" guys. It got me wondering, how bad was the boda-boda guy injured to warrant such a monstrous atrocity towards the young lady? It's not like she was running away from the scene, it appeared to me that she was looking for a place to park so she can try and resolve it amicably.

Now for a group of men to actually decide to rain blows on her and actually rip off her clothes and sexually assault her instead of coming up with a solution, what does that tell us about our society? Is there a problem with how our sons are being raised? Is it the environment they are growing up in that shape them into hooligans? What were they exposed to while growing up?

What is it that would make a man turn into such a primal savage? What if this violence was committed to someone much closer to them? A mother maybe, a sister, a caregiver they've known their entire lives?

Men, you're meant to be a pillar of strength and protection. It has been ever since time immemorial your God given traditional duty to take care of us or at least contribute to our safety. Let us all take a stance; both men and women and unite to end this GBV nightmare. 

We are stronger together!

    This is the height of Annimosity of how the male human is worse than a wild animal, its hard to understand how one would go to such an extent with a fellow human being who is someone's mother,sister,auntie just like would be your own, it leaves me wonder how safe this boda industry is if we have immature ,uncouth, indisciplined people like this to a point you wonder if they are even human or Devils. Such people should be locked away for a lifetime infact they should be caged. They are a disgrace 😤

      Not all men are to be demonized though cause we honestly do have some men raised right; we do have gentlemen.

SELF-SOOTHING

What is self-soothing, how do we find ourselves as adults doing it and how do we best manage? In my understanding, self-soothing is where we try to calm ourselves/ regulate our emotions the best way we know how. It's how we find ourselves managing with either disappointments, hurt, loss, just to mention a few. We mostly self-sooth when we don't know how to manage a particular situation at a particular time. In honest truth, I find it a form of reaction when we don't know what our response "should be"  and that is why most times you find most people resulting to drinking alcohol, others find solace in working out, some even hide in their work.
